Monthly Summary: December 2012

December resembled an average month in terms of mean and minimum temperature. The maximum temperature exceeded long-term average by 8 degrees F.

We received 0.37 inches of liquid precipitation. There is a healthy snow pack of about 4-5 inches. This will help a little with the drought, but may not end it.

The temperatures have not really been above freezing since the 7th of December.

 

With the December data in, it becomes clear that 2012 rivals 1931 in average temperature. With 47 F, 2012 was 4 degrees above the long-term average!

 

All data refer to the time since June 7, 2007, as measured by the UMM weather station. Averages refer to data taken by the Morris Co-op and the USDA Soils Lab.
