Yearly Summary: 2013

The year 2013 was a colder-than-average year in Morris. Notable is that there was snow on the ground until the 5th of May, with yet another winter storm passing south on May 10th. The growing season was delayed.

Two strong summer storm systems passed through. Much wind damage occurred on June 21 with the passage of a very strong line of thunderstorms. A second disaster occurred on August 5th, when a hail storm unloaded tennisball-sized hail onto town, and lead to a new round of roof and window replacements after last year’s August 12th hail storm. After the delayed spring, summer temperatures endured until the end of September. Winter-like conditions, with frozen lakes returned by the 5th of November and never recovered. A permanent snow cover formed on the 4th of December.
